Keeping Your Jewelry Safe – At Home and Away

The best way to store jewelry when traveling:
Your diamonds will scratch any gemstone including other diamonds. Almost any other gemstone may scratch pearls. Instead of placing all your jewelry into a little zipper pouch, put each piece of jewelry into an individual plastic bag first before putting them all in the pouch.

How to bring jewelry on vacation:
Carefully pick the most appropriate pieces to bring on your trip. The rest should stay at home in a safe or safe deposit box. When traveling, it is best to wear your jewelry or at least keep it on your person. When flying, put your jewelry in your carry-on luggage. (See above for storage.)

Keep your jewelry safe at home:
A built-in safe or immobile safe with a combination lock is the best place to keep your jewelry at home. Thieves know to look on your dressers, in your drawers, under the mattress, and in the shoeboxes in your closet.
